EMBRACE THE UNCERTAINTIES

Updated: May 5, 2020

If one disease can provide us with the insight of how fragile, interconnected and precious life is, the novel corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic offers a profusion of lessons on various levels in our life. A crisis like COVID-19 shows us the need to foster some changes in our society to survive in the 21st century. Amidst all the negativity going around in the world, do you ever feel that it has any silver linings to offer? As J K Rowling wrote in her book, happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, we see around us some positive effects coming out of a pandemic. It clearly shows that if stand united, we can get through this global problem. The lock downs we see around the world are forcing us to take a break from our active lives. Maybe, it just a reminder that in any breakdown, there is always a chance of a breakthrough.

There is always two sides of the coin:) Despite posing such great threat to human lives, the pandemic has also resulted in cleaner, healthier air and water all around the world, a thing that administrators and politicians haven’t been able to achieve in the past several decades of the fight against climate change. Several reports have emerged highlighting the returns of many species to their natural habitats, chirping of the birds in areas where there was none, one thing for sure is clear that mother nature is enjoying this small break from us and our daily slog.

People in India can see the Himalayas for the 1st time in decades, as the lockdown eases air pollution.

Due to this lock down, the surroundings look more soothing. All the hustle and bustle in my neighborhood has disappeared. It feels like everything around is ushering a beautiful spring. These days it’s just the sound of the chirping of birds. And where I live, I rarely get to see birds migrating but nowadays I’ve been observing different kinds of birds migrating in different directions which I have never seen before. Even the skies look more clearer.

And all day long indulging ourselves in electronic devices makes our mind a bit tiring and stressful, so to get rid of this I used to walk on the terrace just to keep my mind stress free just by watching the surroundings which gives me so much peace these days as there is no noise of vehicles. COVID-19 has been an eye-opener. It has shown people as to how mother earth can bounce back to life if humans allow for it. But, unless the society cares for the environment and changes its attitude.

Through this pandemic, Mother Nature has given us this strong signal that if we have to continue living on this planet we have to change our lifestyle. It is a good time to make everyone realize....

that this climate change and environmental destruction is as important as COVID-19. If we all unite then we can overcome both these problems and it’s a perfect time to think of some ideas and put the planning and strategy in place to make this happen.

And now I would like to conclude my blog with these beautiful lines- The lows don’t last for long, the sky will eventually clear up.
